Pecker — a set-top box for watching TV and on-demand films, listening to music, playing games and streaming media. Based on the user's personal preferences, it can suggest content they will find interesting. The Pecker Player remote also works as a game controller, and the “Nanny” mode lets parents pick a playlist for a child and control the box from a mobile app.
The client's brief: a distinctive design for the complete kit of a new-generation TV player.
The main feature of the industrial design of this device was the way it mounts on the TV. We needed a functional, compact and at the same time attractive bracket for fixing the tuner to the back of the TV. We designed a flexible single-piece bracket with no hinges or screw joints that fits all modern flat-screen TVs.
Another feature was that we gave the Pecker Player remote the function of a game controller, which reduced the number of parts in the kit.
Overall, the development team spent about six months on the plastic enclosures for the whole kit.
