This is the second project from RigExpert that we have worked on. Like the first time (a detailed description of the Stiсk project development process can be found here), we received an order for the development of the industrial and mechanical design.
Working on this project, we tried to create the most convenient device for all planned scenarios of its use, to provide the case with reliability for the correct and long-term operation of the radio equipment located inside. The cost price of the enclosures made it possible to implement a more expensive and interesting solution in order to compete with analogs in the West. This is very important since this type of device is popular mainly in foreign markets. The choice of just such a design concept was facilitated by the study and analysis of existing solutions that we were able to introduce in new cases, as well as the ergonomic shape of the case, aimed at the convenience of interacting with it with gloves in the field and during work. undefined in the room.
For this, the case was equipped with an additional element on the back - sliding support, this is what adapted this device for desktop use (while also maintaining the convenience of connecting to all antennas and interfaces, interacting with the keyboard and display).
In addition to the main task, which was to design convenient and reliable cabinet products, we also aimed to create a new image of the RigExpert product line.
If we talk about the difficulties associated with the project, then, since during the development process, our R&D and electronics developers from the RigExpert side tried to optimize the number of boards and electronic components, we had to revise the internal dimensions of the device several times. This ultimately affected the number of corpus iterations.
The second major challenge was the selection of the display. In this regard, we have done a lot of joint work on the analysis and selection of the best types of displays. As a result, the device received a full-color display with a large undefined resolution. Also, due to the fact that the device is used not only indoors, but it also has a higher protection class of the case against dust and water. The design of such enclosures is always more difficult than the design of those devices that are used indoors.
