ECOSOFT P’URE — a range of reverse osmosis filters.
Reverse osmosis removes 99.8% of contaminants from water. It is the most effective way to purify drinking water available for home use.
The heart of the filter is a FilmTec reverse osmosis membrane from the American company DuPont (formerly Dow). It purifies water at the molecular level and retains all kinds of contaminants, even bacteria and viruses.
A reverse osmosis membrane is a semi-permeable polymer material. Its pores are 200 times smaller than viruses, so membrane filtration guarantees complete biological protection. Water purified this way does not need to be boiled and is completely safe for people of all ages, even small children.
The client's priorities were a highly reliable housing and flask assembly with its connectors, easy installation and maintenance, and a low cost of parts.
With all these wishes in mind, we understood that although a reverse osmosis system is hidden (it is usually installed under the sink), it still has to be arranged so that it does not look intimidating and comes across as a neat, attractive piece of engineering.
The design concept we chose fits best with Ecosoft's branding, which combines eco-technology and clean water for everyday life. Simple shapes such as a drop and stylised plants form the basis of Ecosoft's visual style, and we favoured such shapes throughout the development. The same logic carried over into the mechanical assembly: it lets you build either a double or a triple filter, resembles the arrangement of petals, and allows the filters to be customised for buyers.
During development there were difficulties with sealing the joints and holding the seals in place, as they tend to shift when the filter is exposed to different kinds of pressure in the water system. Tests and refinements were needed at certain stages.
