RICHYN — a smart, stylish towel holder.
The client's main requirement was the most reliable possible way to hold towels of different kinds, without the towel needing any extra loops or hooks.
We set out to create a memorable design whose engineering would outperform the ideas of the most advanced competitors in this field. We also needed small enclosures able to hold even a bath towel, which is much heavier than a standard kitchen towel.
The hardest part of the project was also the one that took the most time: testing and calibrating the stiffness of the internal silicone grips. This material property was chosen at the prototype stage. For prototyping we used 3D printing, laser and plotter cutting of silicone sheet, and milling of the enclosure.
The project took three months. We used the same prototyping method (milling the enclosure) to make the prototype enclosure for ElvaX Jewelry Lab.
